Upgrade Script

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Before running the upgrade script, make sure you have first backed up.

Upgrade Steps:

1.Backup your files: See backup instructions.
2.Upload changed/new files: When replacing your files, the easiest way to make sure that you do not leave any unneeded files on the server and that you are using the latest files in your install is to delete all of the files on your server EXCEPT the product images, any themes you wish to keep from the themes/ folder, and your config.php file located in the include/ folder. Everything else you can delete safely. If you have made changes to any files, you can alternatively upload only updated files and get a list of those updated files by reading the change_log.txt located in the docs/ folder.
3.Run the upgrade: Ensure that the install folder is on your server so that the upgrade.php can be run. Next, navigate to http://www.yourserver.com/sunshop/install/upgrade.php changing your domain and SunShop directory as needed.
4.Upgrade script process:

Step 1: License Agreement

You will need to read the license agreement and agree in order to continue. If you are unable to see a submit button at this point you should try re uploading the install file.

Step 2: Validate License Key

This step will ensure that you have the proper license key file on your computer as well as check the integrity of the license. If any of the checks fail you will not be able to continue with the install. If the domain name does not pass you most likely entered the wrong domain into the system when you generated your key. If this occurs please contact support so they can reset the key in your client account.

When entering your details, there are two options to pass the license key step.

Option 1: License Retrieval

For this option you will need to enter in your login information for the client area on the Turnkey Web Tools site. If you have not yet generated your license key this method will not work. Your license key must be generated and available in the license key tab.

Option 2: License Key Entry

For this option you will need to simply paste your license key into input box. The next step will validate your license as entered. Be sure to enter all of the text as displayed in the license key tab.

Step 3: Perform Upgrade

Assuming all of the previous steps went smoothly and you have reached this point, the upgrade script will run or attempt to run. Note that if you are upgrading from a version previous to version 4.0 then you  may be asked additional information at this point and you may be required to check a "backup satisfaction" box before getting to this point.

5.Delete install directory: To complete the upgrade process, remove the install directory from your server.
6.Done: Your upgrade is now complete.
